Who is the face behind Tourist 2 Local and Hideous History?
My name is Jo a 44-year-old married mum of 2.
In 2004 I took a holiday to visit family – 14 years later I am still here.
My passion for Coventry and its history is huge and after delivering a ghost walk for 8 plus years I started to offer small history tours for friends and family and from there it has grown.
I have had nearly 40 people on one tour at any one time and come rain and shine I love nothing better than delivering useful nonsense to those who will listen.
I spend hours and hours researching, documenting and delivering my tours. At this point in time, there is only me but with time I would like this to grow.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
Walking is not just about discovering new places, it’s about discovering new people and new experiences. It is all about returning back home with new views on life, people history and time.
I spend hours and hours researching, documenting and delivering my tours.
My tours cover the darker, gruesome side of our City’s history but it is real and it is fascinating.
Don’t take my word on how great my tours are – the quote below was written by Coventry university Future Lets team & students – you can find more on my FaceBook page.
Thank you so much for delivering such an amazing ghost tour to our students, it was great and me and Lauren loved it. – Coventry university Future Lets team & students
If you have never been on one of Jo’s tours, I can only say you are missing something if you are interested in the history of Coventry.
Even though Jo is not from Coventry herself, she knows more about our city than most of us who were born here, she brings our history to life in a fun way making it interesting to all ages, I have been on quite a few of her tours & can highly recommend them.

I have been working closely with Coventry Watch Museum since 2010. The site is the remaining part of a Coventry “court” and is probably the last example of what was a common dwelling situation in the 18th and 19th century, Coventry and is also home to Coventry Watch Museum. Open Tuesday and Saturday 11 am to 3 pm – free admission.

Mark Pemberton Photography has a passion for Coventry and his photo of St Michael’s Ruins at Coventry Cathedral takes pride of place on my main page. Be sure to check out Mark’s work
